Epic War admin 24, August
Today’s feature is on the strategy/war game Epic War from Kongregate. Its a game inspired by Tolkien’s middle earth. In this game you pay the good guys with an army consisting of elves, hobbits, dwarves, dragons, and angels and fight against the evil forces of orcs, goblins, evil dragons, and demons. Each unit has 5 levels of upgrades. Your castle also has many upgrades each with 5 levels. All upgrades are bought with XP points you gain from killing enemy troops. Units are summoned by mana reserves, which you must upgrade through the game.

You start with the ability to summon hobbits, but with XP points you can buy the ability to summon elves, dwarves, as well as high-tier units. Many of the higher-tier units have ability that disable the lower-tier ones. For the first level or two, the only thing you need to summon are hobbits. Be sure to upgrade your mana capacity you can keep a steady flow coming. I suggest you use your XP points in the first few levels to unlock the elf warrior and the dwarf warrior unit as well as to purchase upgrades for your castle arrow. The castle arrows shoot almost all the way across the map so they will actually be doing the bulk of the damage throughout the game. Also be sure to purchase upgrades that hasten your mana regeneration rate and the rate at which slain enemies give you mana, you will need these in the later levels. Once you upgrade your castle arrows to full and upgrade the fire, ice, and thunder arrows to full, it should be enough to carry you through nearly the entire game by you just holding down A,S,D,F. Of course, you should buy your unit upgrades and higher-tier units as you get more XP. Through most of the levels, concentrate on upping your mana reserves first while killing most all enemy units with your arrows. Summon a few units to mop up the units that got through. Once you’ve upgraded your mana reserves enough continue using a combination of the arrows and powerful units to kill the enemy base. Victory is pretty easy using this method.

There are fifteen battlefields in all and there is a boss called “the end” at the end of the final battlefield. The thing has 250,000 HP and an attack power of 666. It moves toward your base and you have to kill it before it reaches your base and blows it up. It took me a while to figure out how to kill it but I finally did it using a combination of elves, hobbits, and archangels. Before you take it on, make sure you have upgraded everything to its maximum level and hold down A,S,D,F while sending a steady stream of elves, hobbits, and archangels at it. With mana upgraded to 9999 max and the regeneration and kill mana upgraded to full, you should never run out of mana to summon archangels, elves, and hobbits without pause. Throw in a dragon every once in a while when you have extra mana left over. The point of the units is not to kill the monster because frankly, the units don’t do very much damage. The point of the units is to slow the monster down so your arrows can take it down. Sending a constant stream of elves and hobbits forces the boss to stop and destroy them before moving on, therefore buying you the time you need to take it down. If you send a steady stream of elves, hobbits, and archangels, you should be able to kill it a safe distance away from your base. Happy battles!
