Bloons Tower Defense 3 and walkthrough

bloons td 3 After almost a year of waiting for many fans, the long awaited sequel to Bloon Tower Defense 2, Bloons Tower Defense 3 is here. This game is sure to be a runaway success as it is better than the games that came before it and because everyone in the flash gaming world is obssessed with Ninja Kiwi(Bloons tower Defense 2 got 32 million plays). Graphically, this game is much the same as its 2 predecessors, which is fine because the cartoony look and feel of the balloons series appeals to many and gives it a family friendly feeling.

Game-play-wise it is also very similar. There is one extra tower, the spike-mace tower, that Bloons TD 2 didn’t have, and few other options like the exploding fruit, that was also not there in Bloons TD 2. However, the game-play is more in-depth as there are 2x the number of upgrades for each tower there were in Bloons TD 2. In Bloons TD 2, there were only 2 upgrades for each tower, in this game, there are 4 that are in a 2-tier upgrade system. The problem with this is that the upgrades cost a lot and unlike the previous bloons games, it does not tell you how much upgrades cost until you have enough money to buy them(this might be a glitch that Ninja Kiwi needs to fix). But otherwise, the 2 levels of upgrades bring a lot more strategy into the mix, especially on the harder levels of difficulty as the difference between choosing 2 towers over one upgraded tower actually matters. There is also a new “boost” tower which increases the range and firing range of all nearby towers and also has the ability to call in a “super monkey storm” when upgraded. This tower makes the strategy of putting all your towers in the center a much better idea. The monkey storms are expensive at 850 a piece but is a “this will save me now” type thing that you will need to use at times on harder difficulties. Bloons tower defense 3 has a decent enough learning curve(if you start on easy) and is challenging enough on hard to keep the most hardcore TD fans happy.

On a technical note, the game seems to lag less than Bloons TD 2, which is a plus, but the game stopped once for me after level 46 without saying I won or any more balloons coming, which was weird.

If your a TD junkie or even a casual strategy/defense fan, you’ll really enjoy this game. Now onto the easy walkthrough.

This walkthrough is for the “ice map” on easy difficulty to help beginners get started with the game. The first thing I have to say is that the picture I posted with this article is me playing on easy on this map right before I beat the game so you can look at it for hints. You’ll see that I had 3 regular monkeys, 2 fully upgraded snow-towers, 2 fully upgraded missile towers, 1 fully upgraded spike-ball tower, one fully upgraded beacon, and one super monkey upgraded with everything except epic range.

To start out the game, buy 3 regular monkeys and place them at turn points on the map to give them a good shooting radius. This will ensure that they give the maximum number of hits possible on balloons. This should carry you through the first 4 or 5 levels pretty easily. Use road tacks to clean up anything that gets passed. Next buy a bomb tower and work on upgrading to bigger bombs and the missile upgrades. Don’t get the shards upgrade for now as it isn’t very useful. After you’ve fully upgraded the bomb tower, buy a freeze tower and upgrade it all the way. This is very important in slowing balloons down. Afterwards, buy a spike-ball tower and upgrade it to full. The triple shot and the long roll upgrade are extremely good at killing balloons. After that buy 1 more freeze tower and fully upgrade it. Then buy one more bomb tower and fully upgrade it. At this point, buy a beacon tower and set it in the middle of everything. Upgrade it with the range and speed upgrades but do not get the super-monkey storm upgrade yet, that is not critical. At this point, use what you have plus road tacks and pineapple bombs until you saved up enough to get a super-monkey. Put the super monkey in the middle of the screen and get the first range upgrade for him(don’t get epic range because its not worth it). Then save and get the laser vision and plasma vision. After you get these upgrades, you should be pretty set for the game on easy. If you save enough, build and upgrade another super-monkey to make sure nothing gets through. I general all the upgrades for super-monkeys are good except the epic range upgrade because the first range upgrade already nearly covers the entire map if you place the monkey in the center. Eventually, you might want to get the super-monkey storm for the beacon tower just to see what a super-monkey storm is.

So to recap, the build order:
3 normal monkey towers
1 bomb tower
1 ice tower
1 mace-ball tower
1 ice tower
1 bomb tower
1 beacon tower
1 super-monkey tower
1 more super-monkey tower

Remember to use tacks and pineapple bombs frequently as they are cheap and will save you so much of the time. Happy defense!

instead of doing all of that, try using my teqnuiqe. First, by a tack shooter and place it in the intersection of the T shaped thing. upgrade it fully untill u can buy more. keep placing non-upgraded tack shooters until lvl 12(which should be placed at all the corners) , then buy a cannon or a fully upgraded boomerang tower (I recommend a boomerang monkey because they can melt steel balloons AND pop black balloons, plus, it costs less to upgrade). NEVER, EVER PLACE ICE TOWERS!!! anyway, after wards, fill the small gaps with non upgraded dart monkeys. then, upgrade every thing and save for a super monkey. Upgrade super monkey fully, and then use tacks when necessary. If wanted, place a beacon and fully upgrade it before placing the dart monkeys or after placing the super monkey (you will need one here.)

To review, place, in this order:
    1 fully upgraded tack shooter
6 non upgraded tack shooters (in corners)
1 fully upgraded cannon or boomerang monkey(recommended)
(If wanted) 1 fully upgraded beacon
NO MORE THAN 5 dart monkeys (by the corners)
    1 fully upgraded super monkey
    1 fully upgraded beacon

I fully agree with mamading on the tack shooters. They are far better. Ice tower sucks horribly. It hurts you more than it helps by making them invulnerable to all but a few towers. It’s better to use that money for more tack towers. (same price) Not completely sure why both guides put in dart monkeys. I personally find them useless in the beginning and the end. There’s always a better choice for your purchase than a dart monkey, even if it is cheap. Later on in the 30′s and 40′s they become totally useless anyway. After 40′s anything but the super monkey or 3 seems ineffective at dealing with the waves.

My strategy that works well on easy:
Build 2 tack towers in the beginning close by each other on spots where two paths meet. This will make sure you get the initial wave, and still kill off the stragglers that make it through the first attack. When you can afford it, buy a third and place it next to the other two. After that start upgrading the tack towers, ignoring range for now. When all 3 are at blades level, buy 2 more and upgrade them as well. keep all dart towers close enough together that a beacon tower can hit them all. after having 5 tack towers, start upgrading their range. At this point you might encounter a group of metal balloons which tack towers can’t damage. I usually throw a pinapple bomb out there to deal with these and future ones. They are rare enough in the beginning that it’s not necessary to devote a tower to dealing with it until you get a super monkey. When you are finished with that (should go fast at this point) save up for a beacon tower, and place that so that it covers all 5 dart towers. Upgrade the range of it (useless but needed to get to attack speed) then upgrade attack speed bonus. At this point your tack towers should be handling anything that comes at it, leaving you the next task of saving up for a super monkey. When you place him, it’s very important to pay attention to two things.

    1. make sure he has a clear shot of the entrance, with no paths obstructing him. (you will see why later)
    2. make sure he is within range of the beacon tower.

once you build him, upgrade as the top guide says, the only difference is, once he hits the 2nd damage level, be SURE to set him to LAST enemy. This will make sure he attacks the back of the line, dealing with any metal balloons coming at you in addition to breaking down the higher tier balloons for your tack towers to clean up.

Easy mode is easily beatable with this strategy, and it doesn’t require any extra towers.

  3.   admin Says:

I don’t know. I found out that ice towers were immensely helpful as long as you combo-ed bomb towers along with them. Bombs can kill ice balloons in groups. You guys beat it on hard yet? I haven’t.

  4.   Sam the man Says:

this is a totaly tub game

  5.   Bobby Joe Says:

This is such bad advice!!! it sucks

  6.   Peter Says:

beat all levels on addicting games on hard now working on the actual web site.. 6/8 done on hard. Lil trick while saving for super monkey and close to getting it buy becon and upgrade to storm and sell it.. On hard only cost about a g and the becon is not worth it on most levels. this way you still get monkey storm when you need it and on blimp levels.

  7.   sunmist Says:

Well, ice can be useful if you use it with pineapples but that only works if there are no yellows or whites in the level.

  8.   some dude Says:

hey how do u kill those big grey baloons?

  9.   Jerry Says:

horrible advice both in the article and comments…

  10.   Blopper Says:

I have now beaten all the tracks on medium and first two in hard using the following tactics:

I start by buying a tack shooter and put it to the best possible place

As soon as i got more money i buy a dart monkey

I upgrade them little bit, then start adding tack shooters. When I have approximately 2-3 more tack shooters, I change the dart monkey to boomerang monkey.

Then I add more tack shooters and power them up with beacon tower. Again more tack shooters. Then I sell few tack shooters and buy the super monkey. All my towers are in the beacon range, so they get more range and more rapid fire from the beacon tower. I buy tack shooters and sell them to upgrade the super monkey. Sometimes I buy an additional boomerang monkey or mace-ball tower. I didn’t lose any life’s on hard in the first two levels.

  11.   Blopper Says:

Peter, what kind of tactics do you use?

  12.   The president ☺ Says:

Here is a tip, when you buy a monkey beacon and want super monkey storms just uprgrade it, then sell it and buy antother one if you want and you will still be able to call in super monkey storms whithout uprgrading your second monkey beacon.

  13.   Raphael Gilbert Says:

    Hi,
Damn, I was looking for tactics for the circular stage. I have completed every level on hard apart from this one :( ((((

Just so you know, the tactic for the game is quite simple.

    1) You need rockets at the start to seperate the lead balloons in their component parts.
    2) You need tacs at the start to seperate the black balloons so that your rockets arent wasted at the start (1 tac at each entry is sufficient)
    3) SPAM build tacs in a strategic location on a latter part of the map. When I completed stage 4 I had 27 tac towers and 5 rocket launchers. That should give you an idea.

DONT use freeze towers OR dart monkeys. The only level where the catapult is at all relevant is stage 3 where you have the really long straight liine at the start. And even then dont build it until much later in the game. I hope this helps!

If anyone has any advice for me for stage 5 :( ( please email me on mr_gilbert_bsc@hotmail.co.uk. Cheers

  14.   awesomeness Says:

i think that catapults are the best only wen you fully upgraded

  15.   mr drill Says:

me and my brother tried everyones ideas.
mamading’s took less time and money especailly for those who hate road spikes.

  16.   Mr Owningstein Says:

    Hi there,

I own all of u lol

THe tatics posted here are mostly a joke!

I got to level 80 this morning, but think i can do better, will own it up proper today, i want to see level 100 !

To anyone that said place road spikes to clear up bloons, look at the prices, work out your timings and use pineapples.

Btw, there is no need to drop a single pineapple till around level 67, and no need to monkey storm until well past level 70.

    The trick is, being pro.

    Mr Owningstein.

  17.   Bob Says:

This strategy works well on Medium:

Fully-upgraded dual tacks are kickass in corners. Use two tacks next to each other near the start to pop the black bloons (in a corner of course). Get a cannon in a strategic location near the start to pop lead bloons. Then, place one more dual tacks around the map to get bloons that slip through. Then spam fully upgraded cannons in strategic clusters. Two clusters of 3-4 cannons are pretty much kick ass. Place them to maximize their cover area. Place a dual freeze towers in the cannon cluster’s range. The bloons that slip through will be frozen and picked off by the cluster of cannons.

You HAVE to place the dual freeze towers far from the starting position, because they are useless against MOABS. You HAVE to place them where the MOAB will have already broken. Then you will freeze the bloons inside the MOAB and your clusters will finish them.

Then go for a supermonkey and a beacon with super monkey strike. At level 50 spam pineapples on the MOABS and when they break use your super monkey strike.

    2 darts
    1 cannon
    2 darts
    7 cannons
    2 freeze
    1 super monkey
    1 beacon

    Your all stupid,

  19.   Pwn Says:

    Your all stupid,
put lotsa tack shooters at the entrance(s).
2 fully upgraded cannons and then super monkeys until u cant get any more!!!

  20.   ajdkfj Says:

dam it, i almost defeated it, i was on lvl 46, then a MOAB got inside

  21.   yo mama Says:

i beat it and ihad 4 super monkeys

  22.   helpme Says:

please can someone tell me how to defeat the big greyish metal balloons on the later levels ??

  23.   Adam Says:

Can anyone tell me how many levels are on Bloons Tower Defense 3, medium level?

  24.   crude Says:

    Nope XD

  25.   Johnny Says:

Dude you guys all suk, I got to lvl 103 with on hard with the map covered with super monkeys all upgraded completely, I had 3 million dollars but I quit because it wasn’t fun anymore. There was no room left on the map for anything, I own you all , ohh in the 100′s lvl there are like 100 Moab bloons and the lvl lasted for like 5 min, I would get like 200000 dollars per round before I quit. You all are noobs

  26.   andrwew Says:

i went to lv 150 and super monkey al over he map

  27.   smog Says:

i got to lvl 49 i had 5 super monkey storms so i couldnt lose and i lagged out lol i got so mad

  28.   Samuel17 Says:

My technique is used on track 1 easy, at first build a bomb tower and place it in the center and upgrade to bigger bombs, then long range, then frag bombs and at last, the missile launcher. Save money and add later an ice ball near of the bomb tower. Upgrade it fully and after add a spike ball tower at the center at the bottom. Svae money until you can purchase the super monkey. Upgrade it fully and after, you can continue the game by adding everything you want (me, i will tell to add a monkey beacon, it will be useful).

    See the order:

    1: bomb tower
    2: ice ball
    3: spike ball tower
    4: super monkey
5: everything you want (a monkey beacon will be better)

if a bloon has escaped, dont panic, because im not sure that you will win with 100 lives and is my best technique however… try this strategie and in this technique you can add some pineapple and road spikes (but not monkey glue).

  29.   MetallicA4ever18 Says:

well dude, personally i just start off with like 6-7 fully upgraded tack towers, and then i sell ‘em all 2 buy cannons then upgrade them 2 the max. p.s. i usually build 20 of ‘em so i can make sure i cannot lose. TRUST ME!!!!!!!!!!!

  30.   unhappy human Says:

    booooooooooooo

  31.   Jack Says:

Whatever happened to the classic 1 bomb tower, spam monkeys, then sell em off for super monkeys tactic? XD works every time

  32.   Lolani4evaneedsinfo Says:

How do you beat the metal balloons???
    Please help
