Today’s game of the day is Elite forces: Clone wars, a strategy game where you must produce clones at your base and then use those clones to take over the enemy base. This game has a lot of strategy in it as you will be competing against many other factions and must choose the right targets for take-over or you will lose. Your bases produce units at a constant rate. When you send units out, you send half of the base’s units to attack the enemy base. You take over a base by sending more invaders than they have defenders. |
Likewise, you can lose a base if your opponent sends more invaders than you have defenders. You select a base by clicking on it. You can de-select with the spacebar or select all bases by pushing space while nothing is selected. The first two missions are just teaching you how the control works, the real game begins on mission three, the first mission where the enemy actually sends units against you. Note that there are always neutral bases on the map, take these first before going to attack the enemy. Generally the player that can get the most neutral bases usually wins the game. In the game, there are three factions: red, green, and blue(you) and they are in a free-for-all against each other. Both the other AI’s will try to capture neutral bases as soon as the game starts, so you have to be quick. Play the AI against each other. Note that you cannot always just select all your barracks and try to conquer one base at a time, this will not work after level 4. While you are concentrating on taking out one of the opponents, the other will grow too strong and kill you. You must spread your forces and pick the bases that are the easiest to conquer. Alot of the time this requires multi-tasking several bases at once. Only when you have a significant advantage in base and unit production can you be successful by selecting all your bases at once and conquering one at a time. You will notice that at several places on the map, the two enemy AI’s will fight each other for bases. You want to avoid these spots and let them kill other. Try to evenly kill the enemies and don’t kill one really fast to give the other a really big advantage. Above all, the neutral bases(ones not taken by the enemy) should be your first priority. Only when all of these are taken should you actually try to take the bases that are already occupied by enemies. This mistake of trying to take enemy bases before neutral ones is a mistake that I think many would make. If you do that, you will lose. A very good strategy is to wait until one the AI’s gets attacks a base until it is very weak so you can send only a few units in to take it. This way you don’t have to expend quite as much to take the bases. There are levels(like the first level where there are 2 enemy factions) when you have to kill one first because that enemy almost exclusively attacks you. But unless this is the case, don’t exclusively fight one enemy. However, in many levels, you will have to kill one enemy before another. If you find that one enemy is just much closer to you or if that enemy looks easy to take out, go ahead and do so. So lets recap strategies:
1. Take over as many neutral bases as possible
2. Stay out of the areas where two opponents are fighting
3. Try to keep both opponents about even in strength as you get stronger and only crush one of the them when you have enough strength to kill both.
4. Do not fight one AI to the death and let the other one get strong, this will be your downfall.
5. You must micromanage your bases one and a time and send units to the right places. Selecting them all to attack one location generally does not work that well
6. Wait for the AI to weaken bases for you, then send your own troops in once the base has been softened by the AI
7. The last levels are exceedingly difficult to beat but if you play the AI against each other and be sure to not send soldiers out when your bases are fairly undefended and deploy strategically, it is possible to win. All missions are possible to win, regardless of how impossible they may seem.
