Most arcade webmasters know that Google search traffic is the best source of traffic you can get. Both in terms of eCPM conversions and page views per visitor. However, what many fail to recognize is that the keywords they target have a large effect on this. Certain keywords in the arcade genre just generate better returns per visitor than other keywords. Most webmasters know to go after big keywords, but they fail to realize that different game-related terms attract different audiences and therefore different rates of conversion.
Its fairly well known and English-based countries offer the best traffic in terms of eCPM conversions. Despite this, many webmasters do not really take good looks at what keywords attract english-speaking visitors or demographics. For instance one of the keywords I’m going towards “xiao xiao” attracts alot of search queries each month but the eCPM is not that high because the percentage of those searches that are english is very small.
On the other hand, other terms that I have or am going for like “stick games”, “car games”, “bike games” draw a large percentage of english-speaking people so the conversion and eCPM for traffic that come with those terms on google is generally much better.
When it comes of making money, the amount of search engine traffic is not the only thing that matters but where those searches comes from play a big part also in how much you can make. If you really want to maximize adsense profits, go specifically for terms that target an english speaking crowd. For instance “games” will produce a higher eCPM than “jogos” generally will.
Be choosy when picking a domain and deciding what words to target, it will make a big difference down the line.
