Epic War 2 Walkthrough admin 29, December

This strategy and series of video walkthroughs is for the awesome new strategy game Epic War 2. In this game, you take up the flag of the humans, orcs, or elves and have to defeat the minions of the Lord of Hell and have to come face to face with him yourself before you can free the land from shadows. Besides the units you can tech up and get there are special units you must unlock. Here is how to unlock them:

Hobbit: Read credits and instructions
Dwarf: Load game three times
Bomberman: die 3 times
Dragon: Beat level 17(The End)
Devil: Beat level 18
Angel Knight(not the human archangel): Max all three tech trees.

One thing, I found that the game is only beatable using the elves because if your elf, the Lord of Hell does not seem to do his ground pound attack which damages everything as long as you don’t build any ground melee units. Videos below show how to beat all three bosses:

Level 16: Frog Demon

Level 17: The End:

Level 18: Lord of Hell

Hands of war Hands of War is a cool rpg where you choose one of three classes and go on numerous quests and at the end defeat the final big bad boss. This game has a lot(and I mean a lot) of variety with over 90 enemies and over 100 quests you can go on. The possibilities and adventures you meet throughout this game are extremely varied. That being said, it is a good afternoon gaming session and possibly more, depending on how much you want to study the world. If your having trouble on the last boss, check out the video below.

renegade commanders Renegade Commanders is a command and conquer-like game where you must build buildings, train troops, and defend your base against enemy forces. To complete a mission, you must either gain enough territory or hold off against so many enemy waves. The first level is an introductory level to get you to learn the basics, the real game begins on the second level. I chose to play the GDA side(note the similarity to the GDI in the C&C series) and fight against the rebels, but both sides play the same way.

You need to note the strengths and weaknesses of each unit against each other unit. For example, the air units are good against everything except bazooka-men. For the first real mission when you are on defense, your first priority should be to build the 3rd power plant and a vehicle plant and start pumping out tanks and troops. Also, don’t forget to build the fifth turrets. While the troops and tanks in the 2nd level aren’t a real threat, the long-range cannons are. You’ll find your structures suddenly exploding if your not paying close attention. Always scroll the map with the arrow keys to keep a lookout for long-range artillery and keep a good combination of air troops, normal troops, and bazooka troops in your army. You’ll need to defend all sides but most of the artillery comes at the bottom. Do not let your barracks get destroyed or it probably will cost you the game. Keep troops on patrol at all times and kill off the long-range weapons so they have to come into the range of your turrets. Doing this will let you defensive structure kill most of their units and if a good way to victory. Good luck!

portal wars Portal War is a fun fighting game where you choose to be a character from one of the major game portals and fight the other portal characters to the death. This concept is great and the game runs smoothly but unfortunately lacks in diversity and is just too easy. There are two main modes, arcade and versus. In arcade, you fight each enemy one on one until you beat everyone. In versus, you fight against 3 AI’s in a battle Royale. I found that the easiest way to win on versus was just to stand aside and let the other three beat the crap out of each other.

On arcade, just face the direction of your opponent and push ‘A’ and you can beat the game. It was fun for one run through, but not something you can play for very long.

Warzone Tower defense War Zone Tower defense is a fun create your own tower defense maze game with many choices of towers, maps, and defensive structures. You must defend against both land and air units so building both ground lasers and air defense is vital. I found that concentrating fire and making use of the towers’ best abilities was the best way to win.

For instance, the laser cannon fires in a line so its probably best to build your maze so that is has long straight ways so the laser cannon to have its best effect. I’ve played the default map through the first 100 waves so if you having trouble getting started. You can use it as a guide. Click on the “Click me, I am a walkthrough link to view”.

Unholy island strategy admin 18, October
Unholy Island is a strategy game where you play the role of an dead skeleton pirate who has been cursed by the Kraken to be stuck on an island. Unfortunately other “live” pirates have found the island and now you must use the weapons at your disposal and spawn minions to protect it. Its a very well built game but has a few minor issues such as the barrels being hard to grab at times. But despite a few minor glitches, it is still a good strategy game that deserves some play time.

You can use either the arrows or the mouse and arrows to move and rotate. I found moving with the mouse and arrow a lot easier, especially after you’ve grabbed something. Its just easier to click and hold rather than rotating and then moving with the arrows. This game has both an action and strategy mode which play differently. I always played the strategy mode which depends more on the placing of the cannons and minions to kill ships rather than the manual hacking and slashing of your sword. In this mode, the main thing are your cannons(and sometimes command minions which you can buy in the shop) I always placed many of them (surrounded by barrels of course) on the right side to blow apart the ship right when they come. I usually sold everything else except barrels and cannons to buy more cannons and spawn more minions. The last cannon I always kept for myself. I liked concentrating firepower because you can knock out the ships before they get too much of a chance to fire back. As you get more cannons and minions, command minions become necessary and you will eventually have to do some hacking and slashing as well. Playing on normal takes a bit of skill so if your looking for some casual play, I’d suggest easy. Go through the tutorial as it will help you understand the basic mechanics of the game. Otherwise, good luck! Feel free to post what you did here.

Prince of War 2 is a fun combination of an action and strategy game where you must control your main character and also summon troops to defeat the rebellion. The game is divided into a series of many missions and although you start off only being able to build basic infantry and archers, the variety of units you can build increases as the game goes along. You can select to play which level you want but I suggest you start at level 1 to get used to the game first. Click the “Click me, I am a walkthrough” link for a starting guide.

Okay that is the first two chapters and should get you a good start on the game.

The Dark Age walkthrough admin 29, September
The dark age The Dark Age is a strategy game where you must battle the forces of evil in many different zones and kill their castles. I played this game on normal and found this game mildly enjoyable, although it was kind of long and tedious. You basically buy units and send them across the screen to the other side to combat the enemy’s units and ultimately to take down the enemy’s shield and destroy their castle in each zone. There is a strategy on how you should buy the units, but for the most part, this game is pretty easy on normal. Check the strategy below if you are having trouble.

To start, you have to have the basic air unit, and the basic land units. For the first zone, buy two land units for every air unit. For the land units, try to always have one melee unit in front of each ranged unit. You should be able to easily take town the first castle this way. After this, you’ll have access to more advanced units. The general rule of the game is since you can only build one unit at a time and you generally don’t run out of money easily, always buy the highest tier melee, ranged, and air unit you can. If you have a constant supply of money, I’d just buy the ranged unit if the melee and ranged unit are on the same level because the ranged unit is generally more powerful. The only time you should buy weaker units is at the beginning of levels when you don’t have enough money to buy your best unit. Stronger units are always the better bang for the buck. For castles 2-4, you can use the strategy of 1 land unit and one air unit in a constant stream to take the enemies down. From castle five onward, you’ll want to concentrate more on air. I use the ratio of 2 air units for every ground unit and it carried me through the game. Unlike epic wars or deeper games of this type, the build time on units is the same and there’s no research to get better units, they just come as you advance in levels. So if you just alternate between the strongest land and strongest air unit available through the entire game(except at the beginning of levels where you have no money to buy these units and have to buy weaker ones), you should be able to beat the game on normal. Happy battles!

brotherhood of battle This review is for the multiplayer strategy game Brotherhood of battle. Overall, this is an excellent multi-player strategy game well balanced in research, recruitment of units, and combat. The graphics were well-done and the gameplay was smooth with no notice-able game-play errors. However, there are some serious issues in the game that I do believe need to be addressed. The first glaring one is that there is no single player besides the tutorial and you have to play multi-player if you wish to play the game.

This makes it so you cannot truly get used to the feel of the game before going online against other players. This also means that there is no story-line to the game. Many strategy fans like myself play the games partially because we want to see how the story unravels. Not having one was a big letdown in this game. My other main complaint builds upon the first one in that once one player leaves, the game is over. It was particularly hard to actually play a full game. Most of the time, my screen displayed “victory” right after the game loaded because my opponent left. Now, as much as I enjoy winning, this got annoying after a while. There were also several games where the opponent just left after the first combat phase and the game ended in victory for me. What would take this game up another level is the inclusion of some kind of AI to take over if a human opponent leaves. This would allow people to actually finish a game every once in a while. I’ve tried to play over 10 games, not one of them was complete. This takes a lot away from the enjoyment of the a game. But besides those two serious nagging complaints, this is a great game that seemed to have gotten high ratings from just about everywhere. In the games where people actually stayed for a while, I found this to be a great combination of strategy and tactics.

If you are looking for strategy, I suggest that just keeping all your units grouped together with the big swordsman is front is about enough to beat most opponents as they won’t move in formation and will leave their weaker units exposed. Be sure to get the gold mine next to you and research so you can produce units. I haven’t played many full games, but the ones I did play, I was easily able to get an advantage just by keeping my units in basic formation with the big swordsman in front followed by the thief, archer, and mage behind.

Star Dominion admin 29, August
star dominion The focus of today’s main article is on the flash Real-Time Strategy game Star Dominion. This is the first decent real-time strategy game that wasn’t mostly tower defense in flash I’ve ever played. There have been some attempts at real-time strategy in flash before but most of what I’ve seen ended being either slight deviations from tower defense or a jumbled mess.

This is where Star Dominion stands out: it is actually executed very well. The game itself plays like Starcraft with many of the Starcraft graphics and sounds(it also takes a few graphics from Red Alert II). If your used to Starcraft, know that the old nuke silo is now a power plant(which you’ll need to build structures and units) and the Terran command center is now a refinery. The Red Alert research tower is now the central command tower(at least for the co-empire).

Technically this game is very sound with no major bugs and very fluid game-play mechanics. The resource gathering worked smoothly, the construction of buildings was flawless, and the building and battles between structures and units was smooth. The mechanics for selecting units, targeting, and firing also all worked great(which is rare for flash RTS’s).

However, there are a few things I do have to complain about. The first is the scrolling. To scroll, move your mouse to the edge of the screen and leave it there to scroll to one side. Since it is in flash, the terrain can’t follow your mouse since you’d just scroll the mouse off the screen. This is kind of annoying but it can’t be helped. However, the arrows also don’t work for scrolling, which is a disappointment as that would help greatly in commanding large battles where you have to move several units quickly while scrolling. Also, flash needs to come up with some way to make the right mouse button usable. This is not the fault of the game, but a severe flaw in flash itself. Not being able to use the right mouse button for a flash game is plain annoying as there is no way to de-select units easily without selecting something else. The third thing is that the game doesn’t give any warning that pushing the ‘menu’ button exits out of your current game without warning, thus making you lose any progress on the campaign you were just on. But besides the scrolling and the right mouse button and the quick jump to menu without any warnings, everything else is very crisp.

The game is played out between the co-empire and the Arnorians(think of them of the Empire and the rebellion, complete with a princess called ‘Arina’.) It is suggested you play the co-empire campaign first as the story flows from there. At the start of the campaign, the co-empire has discovered some resources that it needs to seize and thus needs to destroy the Arnorians in order to do so. This campaign starts with the seizure of some territories and ends with the siege of the capital city of the Arnorians. The Arnorian campaign picks up from here as the princess needs to escape from the capital city that is now being held by the co-empire. The Arnorian campaign ends with a revolution of the co-empire.

Strategy-wise this game is a lot like most RTS games. You collect your resources and then slowly expand outward and kill enemy installations, take over more resources and spread your way across the map. Be aware that enemies will harass you and they do come in large groups as you progress throughout each level. You need to establish a good perimeter defense and have one or two build-bots to repair on the fly at all times. Be sure to build the tech center before you go invade anything as your main offensive weapons will be capital ships which you must research. I found the easiest way to beat most levels was just to secure the perimeter and research the technology to build capital ships. Then build some capital ships to take out the first enemy installation. After you take over the resources there, you can start building capital cruisers. Build a fleet of these ships and hardly anything can stand in your way. Always attack with overwhelming numbers and leave nothing to chance. The last missions are always hard but eventually with decent commanding and superior firepower, you can always pull off a victory.

In conclusion, if you are a strategy fan, you’ll want to check this game out. Its missions and campaigns will be good enough to keep you occupied throughout an afternoon.
